One.

I'm not sure how to begin this post or this blog. I sometimes find it hard to put into words the excitement I feel getting to be Colin's wife and on this great adventure of marriage with him. We have hit the ground running here in College Station since we got back from our honeymoon putting together our house, getting ready for Dinosaur Summer Camp (me), celebrating Colin's birthday, and getting things sorted out with name changing and account merging. You know, fun stuff.

I feel as though we have been married for years. Not in a monotonous, dull type of way, but just the way that the Lord has let us 'know' each other and how perfectly right this is. We are just in the right place. I know what Colin's different smiles mean, how much toothpaste to put on his toothbrush, you know, little things like that. He can read me just the same too. He knows just when to walk across the house and wrap me in his arms, when to relieve me from dish duty (did I mention we DON'T have a dishwasher?!), can tell when I don't want to drive, knows how much Splenda to put in my tea, will push me to go running knowing that I'll cave in eventually and enjoy it later, deals with raw meat/fish because my stomach cannot handle it, puts gas in my car, again, the little things.

I treasure the little things that marriage brings: waking up to the person I love most in this world, doing his laundry, reading together in our pajamas, cooking together, grocery shopping for "our family", and just doing life together. There are just some things that you can't know about a person until you live with them...like how Colin brought 3 unmatching socks (just 3) on our honeymoon and expected to work out a week's worth in those. That led to my attempt to wash them in the sink with hotel soap. Which, by the way, was an epic fail. And how he would wear "hole-ey" boxers, shorts, or shirts if I'd let him. Or that he would spend his time helping me make 15 paper mache dinosaur eggs during a total guy movie he just rented. And how surprisingly clean he is. I mean, I thought I knew, but wow. Oh, and how well he takes care of us. He takes care of online banking, bill paying, technology researching, insurance maintaining, lawn grooming, future planning, and I'm sure lots more that I don't even know of.

Two days after we got home from the honeymoon, it was Colin's birthday. I love birthdays. I love my husband. I loved spending the day with him.

I made his favorite Caramelized Italian French Toast with Berries and served breakfast in bed...

hung my favorite birthday banner from when I was a kid...

and arranged our Scrabble magnets.

We spent the rest of the day spending generous wedding gift cards at Williams-Sonoma and Pottery Barn, and bought us a dresser at Ikea to get our clothes off of the floor. We had experience with an Ikea bed, couch, chair, and bookcase, so we thought that this dresser would be semi-quick and painless like our other purchases (shameless Ikea plug). We opened it to find a gazillion pieces and a 41 step manual. It went sort of like this:

Round 1: Ikea Dresser
Round 2: Ikea Dresser
Round 3: Colin
Round 4: Colin + Wine
Round 5: Colin

WINNER: MY HUSBAND!

And our finished product....

Moral of this blogpost: I love my husband and am so thankful to be his wife. I will leave you with the anticipation of another blogpost detailing our bathroom configurations, dinosaur camp, grilling indoors, house pictures, and other oddities.
